What Type Of Fence Do I Need?

There are a lot of different fence styles, designs, and materials we offer to choose between, and one of the most common questions we get asked is “What’s the right fence for me?” In this post, we’ll discuss some of the different choices and options, and try to help narrow down your options to find the perfect fence for your unique needs.

First, you have to determine what the fence’s main job is. Although there are several different looks you can adopt to each type of fence, the primary job of the fence must come first. Whether you are looking for security, privacy, enclosure, or simply an aesthetic change to your property, we have a fence that will work. So, first determine the need, then determine the look.

For security purposes, chain link works well. There can be inserts added to it, to make scaling it harder, as well as to add privacy. However, as it is considered a very industrial/commercial look, it typically doesn’t work well in front of a building. If you are looking for an easy solution to keep pets in the back yard, it offers a solid choice, with next to no maintenance. Aluminum fencing also works well as a security fence, for around swimming pools or anywhere where you need a secure fence that looks a little less industrial.

If you’re looking at a fence for privacy, the best two options are probably vinyl or wood. These two choices offer height, a closed pattern, and are still attractive options. Although vinyl costs more upfront, there is very little maintenance, so the costs over the lifetime of the fence are pretty similar. There are lots of ways to change the look and feel of these fences, whether you paint or stain, as well as how the top is treated.

To enclose a property, when privacy isn’t a concern, we offer several different choices. Aluminum, wood, vinyl, or chain link may fit the bill. Something like a spaced picket fence, in either wood or vinyl, are common choices. Depending on whether you need it to retain any pets or children, there are additional options, like a split rail. Of course, we can add some type of wire mesh to split rail, if you do need it to act as a barrier.

Every yard is unique, and so are the reasons you need a fence. We can tailor the look and feel to match whatever application your fence must meet.
